Inspired by the bilingual publication of My Vietnam, Your Vietnam, VìTÂM has joined forces with author Christina Vo to launch a unique intergenerational dialogue series, taking place mid-June through mid-August.
Tiếng Việt bên dưới.
More Details
Discussions will be moderated by a facilitator comfortable with both Vietnamese and English. Before joining the Zoom session, participants will be asked to read excerpts from My Vietnam, Your Vietnam as well as read/watch other relevant works, and all materials will be provided in both languages. During the session, pairs will speak to one another, and they will have opportunities to interact with other pairs.
If you have someone you might want to invite to be your fellow pair participant, reach out to them today!
In order to participate, there must be two members of a pair, from two different generations, who both agree to fully participate. Here are the expectations for participation:
Both members attend and participate fully in facilitated Zoom sessions.
Both members read and watch relevant materials as shared by the facilitators before each session.
If you’d like to learn more and ask questions to the Christina and the team, join our Info Session via IG Live @vitam.community and @stina_vo on Sunday, April 27th at 11am PT.
We are looking for up to 10 intergenerational pairs to participate in a bi-weekly series of facilitated online discussions, which will culminate with an optional in-person gathering. Participants will receive copies of My Vietnam, Your Vietnam (in English or Vietnamese), access to media and literature, and a resource and discussion guide. Applications for intergenerational pairs will close May 21 at 11:59 PM PT.
What is an “intergenerational pair”? Any two people who are from different generations. This could be a parent and a child, grandparent and grandchild, older friend and younger friend, etc.
What is the goal?
This series centers on building and mending relationships and understanding in Vietnamese families and communities.
Ready for intergenerational dialogue?
Participants will be notified by June 7th regarding participation.
